Venice - Wait! The WHOLE city floods???
Venice was suprisingly the best part of our trip. It started out as a bad movie, complete with people dashing out of Venice exclaming "Don't go to Venice! It's flooded!" Yeah, it was flooded. Some people claimed the waters were up to their thighs, others spoke of it being up to their knees. Either way, wet shoes were a definite.
We stayed out of Venice that night. I had a bad feeling about it while standing in the half flooded boat docks reading the cryptic boat schedule map just before the lights went out. But the water drained the next day and Venice was safe from shallow water sharks once again.
The Venician glass works are amazing. And the scenery is great as well.
The city is just a pleasant place to be.The best part of Venice is NO TRAFFIC. Heck, there aren't even any cars. People just walk everywhere. It seems like such a cool concept. We're hoping it catches on with the rest of the world.
