This vacation started way earlier than the actual days of travel. What I mean is that the main planner of it, Lesly, wanted to do a more difficult hike than usual since she was training for a Grand Canyon hike as well. So our destination for the main hike was one of the very difficult ones on Mount Rainier, the Skyline Trail.

This meant extra hiking workouts to prepare for the trip, and while I went on many of those steep hikes, I also did step climbing nearby a few times and my daily 100 squats. I think it all helped, but even so, I did nearly reach my limit on the big hike up Mount Rainier.

We left on a Thursday after work. It would be a two-hour road trip heading south to the national park. We’d actually gone to Mount Rainier before, although I was the only person who remembered that trip. I mainly do because it was fogged in as usual for our trips with epic views (I have rotten luck in that regard)—and plus, I’d taken photos. Still, it surprised me that no one else remember.

The drive wasn’t too eventful; however, there was a great sunset taking place on the horizon. It was tough to get good shots of that, but I did my best.

It was around 10pm when we arrived and checked in. The AirBNB was located above the brewery/pub and that made us smack dab in the center of things—one stairwell from fresh cold beer. Once checked in, we grabbed some brews at the restaurant. The place was pretty much deserted by then, so it was nice and quiet.

Back up the AirBNB or rather the “loft,” we watched some tele and crashed.
