I'd never really considered going to Idaho for skiing. I mean we have plenty of snow in California. And Washington state. To drive that extra ways? Well, hey, why not? It was a holiday weekend after all. I had to take a flight to Seattle and then pick up my snowboard in Bellevue. It's staying with friends From there, we traveled east a few hours. Maybe many hours. It's a bit of a drive. Happily, the van was roomy.

The resort is near a small town, though they're all pretty much small town once you're away from Boise. Nice people though. Friendly folks wherever you go. Always good to get away from the big cities.

(Not that Pleasanton is terribly big. But it's nice here too.)

The slopes were great. Much better than California or Washington? Eh, about the same. But terrific views and two fun days of wonderful snowboarding. The food was certainly tasty, if not terribly healthy. Since it was a holiday weekend, some restaurants were just too full, and service barely existed.

Though we did hit a pizza place near closing and had the entire place to ourselves. They even had a piano and guitar which customers were welcome to play. More stuff like that please. Excellent pizza too. A winning scenario.

For the snowboarding, my preparation of doing squats every day for a month helped a lot. My legs did fine during the two days of snowboarding, with no soreness afterwards. Granted, my toes froze as always, but squats can't really help that. Maybe more socks.

A quick weekend, but a fun one. Perhaps I'll even return there in time.
