Several moments later… (well, two weeks)

Not much time had passed since my last visit, but there I was heading back to NYC once again. This would be part of a long list of long flights to gain miles for upping my elite status. Once I had gotten MVP 20K, I was hooked.

The usual routine for a Saturday morning flight to NYC. Up at 4am. Long drive to SFO. Park at ParkSFO. Shuttle to the Terminals. I booked a premium seat this time and didn’t get upgraded. But no matter. I brought a salad to eat along the way. I did have a window seat so I got some great shots of NYC as we approached JFK once again.

Again, air train to Jamaica station and the LIRR to Penn Station. I was getting good at it. Could even figure out how to insert the ticket at exit gate of Jamaica.

My second hotel was also fairly nice. It had a coffee maker, which I liked and a fridge. Score! After settling in, it was time to explore NYC downtown once again. Notably, “downtown” is pretty big. I spent more time in Times Square to soak up the atmosphere. Then headed to a pub for a couple of pints. I thought about walking down to Brooklyn Bridge, but passed by “The Lion King” and inquired about last-minute discount tickets. They had a seat in orchestra (M104) for about $100 which was an excellent deal. I hesitated a little bit and then bought the ticket.

Glad I did. It was an amazing show with a great deal of spectacle. It was fun to see the old cartoon movie come to life with real people. As well, it had been probably 20 years since I last even saw the movie.

Afterwards, I wandered around more and then it was back to the hotel.
