This was my first trip during Covid. It was in September of 2020 and things had died down some before picking up again. It was the first masked trip as well.

I had to fly out of SFO. Always a pain since it’s further away. But I parked in the ParkSFO garage and took the shuttle over.

I booked first class for my flight. It’s a short trip to Seattle, but no reason I could not enjoy it. I even wore gloves for the first time to add extra protection. The arms rests were pretty dirty which I found out as iI used my clean wipes to clean them off.

After arriving I got a lift from a friend and headed to Bellevue.

We headed out the next day. The drive to Port Angeles was long and we arrived when it was pitch black out. The cabin was near a lake and the area was deathly quiet.

The sky was filled with stars though—the clarity you never see out here due to all the city lights. I meant to take some photos with my DSLR but I figured I cold do that the next night, which was mistake since the sky was covered over the night evening. I missed my one big chance. Lesson learned (almost).

We took a trip to Hurricane Ridge. It was my second time visiting there, but the first time, it was ensconced in clouds so I got zero view. This time it was much better, though there still was a haze from all the fires. It’s highly worth checking out. You just have get lucky about the views. The place is quite scenic at any rate.

Another trip was to Dungeness. That area did have thicker smoke, so the views out to sea were limited; however, it made for some cool eerie photos though. Just another really wonderful spot to explore up there.

Another missed chance was swimming in the lake at the cabin. I passed on it the first day when the weather was quite warm, but on the second day, the weather cooled off a lot so swimming would not have been fun. Such a pity as they had a diving board on the back deck where one could jump right into the ocean.

On the final day, there was still much smoke. We visited a winery which was thankfully open as Covid still had many places shut down. Then headed south and east.

We took the ferry across the Puget Sound and that’s always enjoyable. Just so exciting as the huge craft crosses the water. Lots of energy.

My final day was in Bellevue. It was just a nice day to relax and enjoy wine. Then it was on a flight back to the Bay Area.
