This trip involved flying to Arizona, where I would be visiting my former neighbor, who moved out there a year or two prior.

I drove out to San Francisco and parked and ParkSFO, and then took the shuttle over to the airport. It was mid-afternoon and the security line was pretty empty. I had some extra time so I stopped by the Alaska Lounge and used one of my passes. It's a pretty nice lounge there with a cozy fireplace in the middle, and a good bar where I got a beer. Then I later got on the flight. I was upgraded to first class and this was a flight with a single seat row, which is kind of nice as you don't have anyone next to you. We took off and I got some great views of San Francisco airport once we were in the air. I also got a view of Apple's relatively new building. I ordered a wine to drink and enjoyed the flight.

I definitely noticed the ground was going from green and wet to very dry and brown. One exception, of course were golf courses, which were sort of an oasis in the middle of a desert – literally. Once I landed at Phoenix airport, my friends, Larry and Lisa, picked me up and we went downtown for food.

Since a lot of Arizona is desert towns, they have these main streets where there's a lot of places to eat and drink – and that's where we went (Chandler, AZ). I got a beer, but we also ordered a massive pretzel that came with dipping sauces, and I must say they're incredibly good. I highly recommend ordering one if available. Then we went back to the house and relaxed. I was treated to a guestroom and slept there for the night.
