This was something incredibly new: a vacation to the state of California. All my life it had been home; now, it was just a temporary destination. It was just so crazy that I had lived there three days prior, and I was already coming back.

But there was a dinner show to do, and I welcomed the visit. This would be my first time parking at SeaTac. Since it was just for a day, it was worth the fee. I was upgraded to first class and given a meal on the flight. I selected the protein plate, which included grapes, cheese, pita, and an egg, oh, and I also got a mimosa. Outside the window I was treated to great views of Washington, Oregon, and California. We soon landed in Oakland, California – the place where I spent so many years flying out of.

Levi picked me up and we headed over to Dublin, California, where we were performing a dinner show for a private party at a restaurant. A gangster suit (the show was “Funeral for a Gangster”) was being brought in for me; however, I was supposed to bring a dress shirt and I forgot that, so I had to borrow someone’s shirt. Not an ideal situation, but I really couldn’t be wearing a T-shirt with a pinstripe suit. The show went fairly well. It was a challenging performance due to the room and noise, but the client seemed to like it okay. We even discussed doing future shows there with the restaurant manager, though I don't believe that ever panned out.

Afterwords, we headed over to my old house, so Levi could see if there any things I left out that he wanted. It was weird seeing the house and not being able to go in. We then headed to Oakland airport where he dropped me off for my evening flight. After clearing security, I went and visited a wine bar (Vino Volo) and got a flight of red wines. They were certainly over priced ($20), but I made them last a while. Then my flight came, I boarded, and flew back up to Seattle first class again. I picked up my car from the airport and headed home—to my new home.

What a difference one week had made.
