Arrrr! You ready for this adventure?!? Yeah, it’s a pirate show that would be performed in Fort Myers Florida. I would be in it, and I also wrote it, so twice as fun!

For this flight, I’d be leaving earlier than normal to reach Fort Myers: 6am. Happily, I was upgraded to first class, so it would be as comfy as possible for Alaska Airlines. Outside was a glorious sunrise and I got some photos of Mount Rainier, which I almost always will shoot if we are close enough.

The meal was a mimosa (well, that’s the drink) sausage, croissant, and fruit. Not too bad. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I been hungrier. I drew on my tablet to pass the time, and soon we were landing in Dallas for my layover.

My fellow actor, Tony, hadn’t arrived yet, so I found a seat in a restaurant, ordered a coffee, and waited an hour or so for him to arrive. Layovers suck when they’re too long, but when they’re too short, you may miss flights. Tough call. Better to error on the latter.

Eventually, Tony’s plane landed from SFO and I met up with him at the gate. I was boarding first, though he could have boarded with the group that needs extra time. It’s just there whenever he wants to take advantage of it. But perhaps no rush. I just needed that overhead space, so I enjoyed the perk.

Since my second flight wasn’t on Alaska, but American Airlines, and thus, I did not get bumped up to first class. However, I selected an exit row, so a decent amount of leg room. One funny thing: I had not flown in an exit row so long that I forgot about the tray tables. I kept trying to get it down and finally the person next to me let me know that it does not come down for the exit rows. I guess it was easier to just build it in and lock it than to have it not on the seat at all for these rows. Peculiar, but very well. Whatever saves money.

It was notable flying in and out of Dallas. I got a good chance to see what the landscape was like around the big city. It was just my second time at that airport. The topography has more water than I would have expected, and Dallas itself certainly sticks out of the horizon. Anyway, we were on our way to Florida now.

In Florida, it was overcast with menacing clouds and lightning storms. Pretty much business as usual. Serena picked us up and we headed to her place in the storm. There were at least pockets of nice sunsets though. Crazy how fast the day goes when traveling from West to East coast.

Back at her house, Tony got to have the guest room and I got to return to my old friend: the couch, which was fine with me, as it’s rather comfy. We chatted and drank wine and soon it was time to retire—but only after I enjoyed some time on the back patio once again. Just so nice out there at night.
